By way of a taster, the first pictures needs no introduction. Surfice to say that it is one of, if not the most classic British built sportscars ever. By far the biggest chunk of my career has been spent creating aluminium bodies for all models of AC Cobras at AC Cars. The first picture is of a MK2 FIA model was completely polished aluminium for that years motor show. The second is of a MK3 which is known as the daddy of them all, especially in the horse power department with a reputed 900hp from it twin turbo 7litre v8 engine. Third is a standard MK4 example. Forth shows the former F1 driver Derek Warwick collecting his new MK3 7ltr from the factory.
These two pictures show what was then a common sight.
A freshly completed MK4 front and a selection of fronts and backs waiting to be fitted to chassis.
The next sequence shows another of my all time favourites. The 1964 Bizzarrini Iso Grifo A3/C which I have repaired on more than one ocassion as, despite being worth over 1/2 a million pounds, is raced hard by top drivers at major events like the Goodwood Revival meeting. In fact it sustained even more serious damage at this years event (2007), its future is as yet uncertain.
When it is in one piece it is a monster of a car powered by a Corvette 5.4litre engine and I believe that this car was the first of only three cars produced by the factory in 1964.
The next car is a Fiat engined Votorini special that required the main body to be repaired as it had many holes and splits in it as well as some very poor earlier repairs. New bonnet, boot, and door made complete and the customer requested that the original basic cycle wings be replaced with the full wings you see here. The first picture shows the egg box type jig that I constructed on the car to allow the owner to get an idea of what the finished wings would look like and make any changes, then I used the finished jig as a former to check the new panels against as I made them.
The second and third pictures show the finished car. A little small for me but still a very pretty car.
